Anti-Spam and Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: May 12, 2026

Overview

Maito (getmaito.com) provides newsletter and email software for publishers, creators, and businesses. Customers may use Maito only to send messages to people who have given valid permission to receive email from that sender.

This policy applies to all email and newsletter activity sent through Maito, including test emails, campaign emails, subscriber-facing newsletter messages, imported lists, embedded subscribe forms, and API-driven subscriber workflows.

Permission-Based Sending

Every recipient must have explicitly opted in to receive email from the publication, brand, organization, or sender using Maito. Acceptable opt-in methods include direct subscription forms, customer-controlled signup workflows, event registrations with a clear email consent disclosure, or another clear permission record.

Customers importing subscribers into Maito must confirm that the contacts explicitly opted in. Purchased, rented, harvested, scraped, guessed, appended, or third-party lists are not allowed.

Unsubscribe and Suppression

Newsletter emails sent through Maito must include a working unsubscribe mechanism. Unsubscribe requests must be honored promptly and cannot be ignored, hidden, delayed, or reversed without the recipient's renewed consent.

Maito tracks bounces, complaints, unsubscribes, and suppressed recipients. Recipients who unsubscribe, bounce, complain, or are blocked must not be sent future marketing or newsletter emails unless they validly resubscribe where allowed.

Prohibited Use

Customers may not use Maito to send:

  • Spam, unsolicited bulk email, or email to non-consenting lists
  • Purchased, rented, scraped, harvested, or co-registered lists
  • Misleading, deceptive, forged, or impersonating email
  • Messages with false subject lines, sender names, or headers
  • Malware, phishing, credential theft, scams, or fraudulent offers
  • Illegal content or content that exploits or harms minors
  • Harassment, threats, hate speech, or content inciting violence
  • Content that infringes intellectual property or privacy rights
  • Email that violates applicable law, including anti-spam, consumer protection, privacy, or data protection rules

Sender Responsibilities

Customers are responsible for:

  • Maintaining accurate recipient permission records
  • Keeping subscriber lists clean and up to date
  • Using accurate sender identity and reply-to information
  • Including legally required contact details where applicable
  • Respecting unsubscribes, bounces, complaints, and blocks
  • Monitoring campaign performance and list quality
  • Complying with laws that apply to their recipients and content

Monitoring and Enforcement

Maito may monitor sending patterns, bounce rates, complaint rates, import activity, list quality, domain verification status, and other abuse signals. We may pause or limit sending for a workspace or account set if activity creates deliverability, security, legal, or platform risk.

We may require additional information about list acquisition, opt-in records, sender identity, business use case, or message content before allowing continued sending.

Violations may result in warnings, import restrictions, sending pauses, domain restrictions, account suspension, account termination, or removal of offending content or recipients.

Reporting Abuse

If you received unwanted email sent through Maito or believe a Maito customer is violating this policy, contact us with the full message headers, sender address, recipient address, and a short description of the issue.

Email support@getmaito.com and include "Email abuse report" in the subject line.

Changes

We may update this policy as our product, infrastructure, legal requirements, or abuse-prevention practices change. Continued use of Maito after an update means you accept the updated policy.
