What Is Maito?
Maito is newsletter software for people who publish writing and grow through social distribution. You write and send newsletter issues, repurpose them into social posts, attach subscribe links to those posts, and track which posts bring in new subscribers. The goal is simple: write once, distribute clearly, and understand what is actually growing your newsletter. What we will cover:- Review your connected social account.
- Configure newsletter settings.
- Create your first newsletter issue.
- Add newsletter subscribe links to social posts.
- Send a test.
- Schedule or publish.
- Extend Maito with the API or MCP.
1. Review Social Accounts
Open social settings and confirm the account you connected when you first set up Maito. Maito supports posting to X and LinkedIn. Connect both if you want each newsletter issue to have a social distribution path.Screenshot placeholder: Social accounts screen showing a connected X or LinkedIn account.
2. Configure Newsletter Settings
Open your newsletter settings and confirm the publication details readers will see. Make sure the sender details and newsletter settings match how you want readers to recognize you in their inbox.Screenshot placeholder: Newsletter settings page with publication details.
3. Create Your First Newsletter Issue
Create a newsletter issue and write the update, essay, or announcement you want to send to subscribers. The issue is the main piece of content. Social posts can then point people back to the newsletter and help new readers subscribe.Screenshot placeholder: Newsletter issue editor with draft content.
4. Add The Newsletter To Social Posts
When you create a social post, add the newsletter plug-in. The newsletter plug-in attaches a link to your newsletter as the first comment or reply from your account. People who find the post can subscribe from that link. Maito can then attribute subscribers back to the post that brought them in, so you can see which social posts are actually growing your newsletter.Screenshot placeholder: Social post composer with the newsletter plug-in enabled.
5. Send A Test
Send a test email before you publish the newsletter issue. Use the test to check formatting, links, images, and how the email looks in an inbox.Screenshot placeholder: Send test action or test email dialog.
6. Schedule Or Publish
When the issue and social posts are ready, schedule them or publish immediately. Use the calendar to review what is planned before it goes out.Screenshot placeholder: Calendar showing a scheduled newsletter issue and related social posts.
7. Extend With API Or MCP
After the newsletter workflow is working, use the API or MCP when you need custom behavior.- Use API Authentication to create an API key for server-side integrations.
- Use the API Introduction to see the supported endpoint groups.
- Use Custom Newsletter Website when you want to build your own newsletter website.
- Use MCP when you want an assistant client to work with Maito.
